MFI - The trading members of the Exchange who are registered with the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) as Mutual Fund Advisors and who have registered with the Exchange in Mutual Funds Segment are called as Mutual Fund Intermediaries (MFI).

MFD - The Mutual Fund Distributors registered with AMFI, and admitted by BSE to become its members for a limited purpose of placing the orders on behalf of its clients on the StAR MF platform are called as MFDs.
